julia

Julia first picked up a fiddle at the age of eight. Over the years she has played in venues throughout Scotland. Wherever she has lived and worked, both in Scotland and in far-flung places, her fiddle has come with her.

In her ventures abroad, she remembers fondly enjoying regular ‘sessions’ with groups in Irish bars in Seville and Valencia, and teaching ceilidh dancing at a wedding in a stunningly beautiful valley in rural Japan.

Tom

Tom plays piano keyboard, and gives the band its bounce and its beat. His musical journey has so far taken him into private tuition and composing, as well as playing.

Tom is piano accompanist with the Edinburgh Highland Reel & Strathspey Society, and he also plays with smaller ensemble groups. Although piano is his main instrument, he does confess to having a shiny red accordion in his collection, and other assorted noise-making devices and gadgets strewn around the house.

JAMIE

Jamie has been playing the fiddle since he was a wee loon in the Garioch and too feart of his teacher to quit. Since then the lave o’t has taken him from Edinburgh to rural Donegal, from Orkney to the Borders and points between, listening and learning from countless great players.

Has been known to swap the bow for a pick, playing blues mandolin, folk bouzouki and indie/pop guitar.
